Montreal mayor Denis Coderre has named two-time Olympic champion skier Alexandre Bilodeau as president of the organizing committee for the Quebec Games scheduled to take place in Montreal in the summer of 2016.
“In 2016, the Quebec Games in Montreal will coincide with the 40th anniversary of the Montreal Olympic Games. We’re proud to be preparing the games with an Olympian and exceptional athlete,” said Coderre in a statement. “Alexandre is a source of inspiration for thousands of young athletes, with a disability or not, who see in him a model of tenacity and brotherhood, especially through his touching relationship with his brother Frédéric and his involvement with multiple social causes.”
The Quebec Games were created in 1970 and are a multi-sport event held every two years throughout Quebec.
